Last weekend, the Kidur team left their workshop to enjoy the We Love Green festival in the heart of the Bois de Vincennes.
After two blank years, the 2022 edition made the eyes shine and the hearts of more than 100,000 festival-goers dance to pop, rock, rap, and electro sounds from all over the world. Despite severe weather that cut Saturday short, the weekend was more than memorable, filled with wonderful discoveries, musical highlights, and plenty of mud.
Although many big names like Gorillaz, Jorja Smith, and Phoenix have made it onto the festival's lineup, we wanted to share with you some of our favorites from this We Love Pluie edition.
C. TANGANA, an auditory and visual slap
A real auditory and visual slap, that's what we took when we attended C. Tangana's incredible performance.
Initially known as a rapper and producer, C. Tangana enjoys an impressive reputation in Spain and Latin America. Still little known in France, his latest album “El Madrileño” will probably shake things up. An album oozing the musical history of Spain and paying homage to it, under the influence of flamenco, reggaeton, bachata, bossa nova and a still very marked autotuned rap. El Madrileño surrounds himself with flamenco references like Niño De Elche, La Húngara, or even the Gipsy Kings, while breaking the traditional codes by the presence of new sounds as experimental (vocoder and synth) as transgenerational.
C. Tangana closed this 2022 edition in a masterful way. This was the first time the artist performed in France and he saw things in a big way, very big. More than a concert, a true play, more akin to a music video than a concert. About fifty actors on stage, in reality musicians who worked on the album, reproduced a fascinating after-dinner scene, dismissing the notions of “good” and “bad” arts by connecting more traditional Spanish musicians with new generations. A suspended, joyful, moving, grandiose and full of life moment that we will not soon forget.
WET LEG, a moment out of time
Wet Leg is the pop-rock phenomenon of the moment. Two young women, friends since university, from a small island off the coast of England, decided to start a rock band in 2019. Two years later, with a handful of notes and chords, the duo disrupted the music industry with a single, intriguing and sunny track called "Chair Longue," which quickly went viral. No one saw them coming, and it had been a long time since a band from the indie rock movement had generated such a stir.
For their self-titled debut album, released in April, the duo collaborated with Dan Carey (Fontaines DC). He draws melodic and stylistic influences from the post-punk era, straight from the 1970s. Combined with a light, melancholic, and heady pop sound, the album delivers a powerful performance and is poised to become one of this summer's must-have albums.
WetLeg performed early this Sunday, June 5th, at La Prairie, the festival's largest stage. A silky, decadent, and above all, nonchalant performance that we can't help but love and recommend!
BICEP, a hypnotic show
Andrew Ferguson and Matthew McBriar formed the duo Bicep in 2008 in London to mix unpretentious disco, house, and techno tracks through the blog "feel my bicep." Their precise, avant-garde music gets hearts and bodies dancing through vibrant live performances.
The band's essential track, "Glue," transports us back in time with soaring, captivating sounds that are impossible to get enough of. Their latest album, "Isles," released on the Ninja Tune label, is a sumptuous gem that plays with our emotions.
The members of Bicep performed on Sunday evening on the “Canopée” stage with a masterful and sincere scenography, giving way to a truly hypnotic show, full of humility.
