Kidur refocuses on the essentials: manufacturing

Dear customers,
Clothing manufacturing in La Plainelière has a long history, almost a tradition. For nearly a hundred years our industrial site has been beating to the rhythm of looms and sewing machines. Since the founders, Husseau and Moynaton, human and entrepreneurial adventures have followed one another with the same ambition, to do well in France. The period 1925 / 1988 saw the Kidur brand prosper and employ up to 600 people, subsequently, Kidur took a back seat, in favor of prestigious brands that have since contributed to maintaining and developing our know-how. Nowadays, Confection des Deux Sèvres , our company is a high-end sewing workshop, we design and produce custom-made items as well as ready-to-wear for major luxury brands.
In 2018, we completely redesigned the Kidur brand, from its historical cradle, logo, cuts, materials, we reconsidered everything to offer you the best of French manufacturing, on our website www.kidur.fr or directly at the factory with a visit to the workshops. The objective was clear, to allow each of you to buy directly and with the greatest transparency the products made in our workshops.
Kidur is a story of experience and learning. Manufacturing and distribution are two completely different professions, and to better understand your expectations, we went to meet you during tours, to present our products during pop-up sales and trade shows. During these tours, we met some wonderful people, and the discussions allowed us to advance our knowledge of direct sales. There, we discovered the beautiful location at 16 rue des Bahutiers in Bordeaux, and quickly the desire to open a boutique there grew, which will become a reality in November 2022.
Kidur was soon available in several locations across France, partner stores to whom we extend our sincere gratitude for their trust. The welcome you gave to our products was more than warm, and we thank you for it.
To meet this demand, we had several hypotheses: increase our manufacturing capacity by training more artisan seamstresses, simplify our products to be able to automate our manufacturing, subcontract our articles to other workshops, etc.
Kidur can only be produced at Kidur , we have been repeating this since the beginning and we are convinced that the production of our clothes must be entrusted to the know-how and hands of our artisan seamstresses. So automation and subcontracting are out, all that remains is the training of new talents in our workshop. Every year a Kidur school allows us to train the basics of our trades internally and then advance skills in our workshops. The complete training is long, almost three years.
However, managing these outlets requires constant efforts to renew our collections and diversify our products, which deviates from our core mission as manufacturers. At Kidur, we are deeply committed to our expertise and our artisanal heritage, values we refuse to compromise.
We quickly realized that we could not take on this new manufacturing burden while ensuring that of our long-standing luxury clients. It then proved impossible for our workshop to adapt to the needs of physical sales without betraying the values of quality and authenticity of its brand, Kidur. In order not to jeopardize a business model that has allowed us to get through all periods and after careful consideration, we chose to refocus on what we do best: the manufacture of quality clothing, designed and produced in our century-old workshop in La Plainelière de Courlay. As a result, we have taken the decision to end all distribution of our products to our partner retailers as well as in our Bordeaux boutique.
Is this the end of Kidur? Quite the opposite! Our team is currently working on our upcoming Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The SURFER ROSA collection will be visualized at the factory next week and will be available in early 2025, but we'll have the opportunity to tell you more about it before then. Furthermore, during 2025, we'll be meeting you again at selected events.
In the meantime, this summer we will be offering you some new products in June and restocking our permanent references.
